How to create an AutoCAD DRAWING TEMPLATE in 5 easy steps
Hi everyone in this short tutorial I will show you how to make a template for all your AutoCAD drawings, template is a concept little used and known, the idea is to use it for all your drawings because it keeps your drawing configurations like units, limits, grid configuration, etc.; after you learn to do this you`ll always use it for all your drawings.
The first step is to configure the drawing units, for that you must go to the AutoCAD Logo and leave that appears the list of available tools, choose the drawing utilities tool, and then you must search the units tool.
The second step is to give to you drawing the units that you will use in there.
The third step is to define the limits of your drawing area, for this particular case I give it the limits of an standard paper sheet 100 cm x 70 cm, you must write in the command line limits, and then you must define the limits of the AutoCAD drawing area, the lower left corner of the drawing can stay in the origin, but for the upper right corner it´s necessary to define it in 100,70. As seen in the image.
The fourth step is to configure your grid settings; I leave that configuration for your particular personal options, I´ll show to you my particular settings for this example.
The fifth step is to save our template in the templates folder, that’s so simple only you must to choose in the AutoCAD options, located in the AutoCAD logo in the upper left corner of the program interface, and you must choose the option save as AutoCAD Drawing template.
That’s all, your settings, units configuration, drawing limits, all you personal setting are saved in this file which you can use at any time you want.
hope that you enjoy this little tip.
